What in the hell are western "leaders" thinking concerning Ukraine?

Editor's note: Over 500,000 dead, missing and seriously disfigured (likely much higher) Ukrainian soldiers in about two years of fighting. The slaughter continues and how can this be mistaken for anything other than a mass kill off? They will continue to exhume bodies for years to come in eastern Ukraine. This clip of where Ukrainian soldiers are being buried is just one location and was taken 10 months ago. Now triple this all over Ukraine. It is so bad that reports are coming in that Ukrainian soldiers are committing suicide rather than face Russian fire along the Dnieper River. Reports suggest that foreign mercenaries fighting in Ukraine against Russia are around 2,000 and they continue to leave or are killed. The Ukrainians themselves have been deluded into thinking war with Russia was the only alternative being under heavy handed state propaganda put out by Telemarathon United News. Telemarathon United News is a round-the-clock multi-channel Ukrainian state propaganda broadcast set up as a single source of televised information about the conflict with Russia. The graft and corruption continue in Kiev as many sensible Ukrainians continue to leave.

The US doesn't have a strategy on Ukraine. It is nothing more than a dumping ground for US weapon manufacturers (see Romania is becoming the No.1 weapons hub for Ukraine) and a money laundering ( a kleptocracy) black hole of rampant corruption and incompetence:

The US will continue providing training, weapons and support to the Ukrainian army as they are sent in wave after wave in small unit tactics against Russia only to be killed. While the US military are training Ukrainian soldiers on German soil, Germany itself "is being flushed down the toilet." The Ukrainian military have been annihilated on the battlefield and their only option now to continue war as a proxy against Russia is to intentionally drop weapons on civilian populations like in Belogrod.

With such appalling Ukrainian losses it is incomprehensible why Japan continues to support Ukraine unless under direct US political pressure:
