Two of the most critical companies in the world: Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Limited (TSMC) and ASML Holding N.V. (ASML)

Editor's note: Taiwan's TSMC is planning on opening its first European microprocessor manufacturing plant in Germany at an initial investment cost of $11 billion. It takes anywhere from 3 to 5 years to build a fabrication plant. Plans are also underway to build plants in Japan (still under consideration for a second plant) and in the state of Arizona for $15 billion. This is likely to begin gradually moving this technology out of Taiwan and further away from China. TSMC uses the machines ASML manufacturers (located in Veldhoven, Netherlands) to fabricate microprocessors. Intel, TSMC and Samsung all depend on ASML machines. ASML is the only company in the world that can provide this kind of technology. It is the German company Ziess Group (located in Oberkochen, Baden-Württemberg, Germany) that manufactures the optics that direct the light for the critically important EUV lasers (extreme ultra violet) manufactured by TRUMPF (located in Ditzingen, Germany) used in ASML machines to print the chips. These are the most sophisticated machines built in the world and the high end on one of these machines runs around $300 million. Ziess sits on the cutting edge of laser technology used in making chips. Over the long term it means there will be a significant reduction in costs bringing TSMC, Ziess, TRUMPF and ASML all together in Germany. Another factor to take into consideration here is that Russia plans on manufacturing a lithography machine more advanced than ASML's machine explaining in part US sanctions on Russia.

NATO moving east gearing up for war with China

Editor's note: It's war time. With NATO opening an office in Tokyo here comes the weapons flow. Lockheed Martin and Raytheon have contracted with Taiwan for hundreds of Javelin missiles in addition to some additional firepower like 400 Harpoon anti-ship missiles. Lockheed and Raytheon's contract is to produce an "indefinite-quantity" of Javelins over three years in a deal that could be worth as much as $7.2 billion. The obedient Japanese have money to spend on war as Taiwan is being militarily built up like Ukraine was starting in 2014 to war on Russia. The background story here is Taiwan's microprocessor manufacturer TSMC that China wants access to. The real problem is that if TSMC moves out of Taiwan the costs for chip production will skyrocket and efficiency will be compromised.

NATO to Open Office in Japan, the Alliance's First in Asia

NATO is planning to open a liaison office in Japan next year, the alliance’s first in Asia, Nikkei Asia reported Wednesday.

In recent years, NATO has turned its gaze toward the Asia Pacific region and named China a "systemic challenge" in its 2022 Strategic Concept. As part of its strategy against China, the alliance is deepening cooperation with countries in the region.

Turning Taiwan Into Another Ukraine

Editor's note: How many US military personnel are in Ukraine including mercenaries? Now Taiwan is going to start to receive US military personnel and it will be incremental ostensibly now to prevent Taiwan's TSMC from falling into China's hands. Report: 200 US Military Trainers are Now in Taiwan

The US has sent over 200 troops to Taiwan, significantly increasing the US military presence on the island, Taiwan News reported on Monday.

The report cited sources who spoke with Up Media and said US Indo-Pacific Command deployed more than 200 personnel to Taiwan to assist the island’s armed forces with training.

Because of this huge global market, TSMC plans to hire an additional 6,000 engineers in 2023. The US has its ass in a sling because manufacturing costs for chips in Taiwan are far less expensive than they would be in the US. And TSMC has made it clear the company is not moving out of Taiwan, so the US will send its carrier battle groups to defend TSMC sitting 100 miles off China's coast.

Calm Down - China Will Not "Invade" Taiwan - Chinese Will Walk in "Business Class" - TSMC Strategies - TSMC Moving Manufacturing Out of Taiwan to the US and Japan

Editor's note: Removing the US from Afghanistan was part of the plans all along for the expansion of China's B&RI into Afghanistan. Problem is who planned that and where are they located? What we have just witnessed over the past two weeks in Afghanistan is of major consequence. Over the past several months there have been talks about Taiwan's microprocessor manufacturing company TSMC moving its assets out of Taiwan including to Japan. TSMC is also invested in building a $12 billion advanced manufacturing facility in Arizona now under construction. TSMC in Taiwan is considered the "tool shed" of Klaus Schwab's 4IR over at the WEF. Without the microprocessors there will be no 4IR and if China controls and has access to TSMC's technology, China will write the technological roadmap for the future for all of us. Those 5,000 containers on a cargo ship (is an invasion of Taiwan imminent?) headed for the US likely contain components needed for the construction of the FAB in Arizona. However, there is doubt in this story. Do the containers contain sensitive foreign manufactured machines that build the machines?

Look Who Is Paying Think Tanks (Wonks are Wankers) for Potential War With China

Editor's note: We republished these two stories to give readers more background compared to each article standing on their own about what is going on between China and Taiwan. A huge component of what is involved here and is not being generally discussed, is Taiwan's TSMC manufacturing firm. TSMC is the most valuable microprocessor manufacturing firm in the world and China would like nothing more than to fully access TSMC's technology. TSMC is looked at as the "tool shed" for the coming Fourth Industrial Revolution that is how important TSMC is to the chip industry. This is especially critical now considering there is a world wide chip shortage. Despite all the war rhetoric though, why would these thank tanks risk a war when the world is critically dependent on microprocessors for high tech and for the prosecution of war and industrial survival?

As to just how much of a "key to Intel Israel is" we will likely see in the coming months as plans are as of January, 2020 to build a €10.3 Intel manufacturing facility in Israel. As of this moment the plans on whether to build this facility in Israel are unknown. There are also plans to build two new $20 billion Intel chip manufacturing (fabs) plants in Arizona. Intel's new CEO Pat Gelsinger, has stated that "too many chips are made in Asia" and has set out to change this. Intel's CEO Pat Gelsinger is mainly referring to Taiwan's TSMC sitting 100 miles off the coast of China. This is an excellent move on the part of Intel: secure the technology and bring it back to America. Intel didn't "declare complete war" on TSMC since Intel will outsource some key CPU chips to TSMC out to 2023.

At the core of ASML lithography machines are the extreme ultra-violet (EUV) lasers that etch out the wafers. ASML has a monopoly on the industry with Taiwan's TSMC, Samsung, Apple and Intel all relying on ASML's lithography machines.  At the core of ASML's lithography machines are the lasers engineered and manufactured by the German firm Zeiss (Carl Zeiss SMT GmbH). Without Zeiss' EUV lasers nothing works. The "Fourth Industrial Revolution" will turn into the "Great Reopening."

This is good news but a lot more has to be done to bring technology back to America then secure it. This all depends on the US military around President Trump.
