Communications Minister says more reliable, faster network will aid in combatting COVID-19

Pelephone has already activated the 5G service at some 250 locations across Israel.
5G is the fifth-generation technology standard for cellular networks, which cellular phone companies began deploying worldwide in 2019. The main advantage of the new networks is that they will have greater bandwidth, giving higher download speeds, at least 10 times faster than the 4G technology.
"The fifth-generation network brings a real message to every citizen in the State of Israel and will make it possible to enjoy the most advanced technology in the world. This technology will lead Israel to the forefront of global technology alongside the most advanced countries in the world," the Ministry of Communications stated.
Hendel stated that Israel is "in the midst of one of the severe crises" and "most of the social processes in the Corona period are based on communication infrastructures and can only be sustainable with advanced communication infrastructures, a crisis in these characteristics requires advanced communication infrastructures and ultra-fast internet."
"The State of Israel and the whole world are going through difficult times and it is good that there are some bright spots for construction and growth in the State of Israel," he added.

Minister of Communications Yoaz Hendel on Tuesday granted licenses to the Pelephone, Partner and Hot Mobile companies to operate frequencies in 5th generation technology in Israel.
Pelephone has already activated the 5G service at some 250 locations across Israel.
