"Christopher Murray Paul-Huhne - self-styled as "Chris Huhne" (born 2 July 1954) is a Liberal Democrat politician and the current Member of Parliament for the Eastleigh constituency in Hampshire. He was appointed Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change following the 2010 general election. Huhne was born in an affluent section of west London to a businessman father and an amateur actress mother .. His education continued at the Sorbonne, where he obtained a certificate in French Language and Civilisation, and Magdalen College, Oxford where he was a scholar (Demy). He started in journalism as an undercover freelance reporter in India during Mrs Gandhi's emergency when western journalists had been expelled. In June 2010, Huhne issued a statement announcing that he was separating from his wife of 26 years because he was in a "serious relationship with Carina Trimingham" - his publicity agent during his 2007 Liberal Democrat leadership election campaign and his 2010 general election campaign in the Eastleigh constituency he had represented since 2005. The announcement generated significant media coverage. Trimingham's friends conceded that the affair had started over two years earlier in late January or early February 2008. In the spring of 2010, Huhne had issued an election pamphlet distributed in Eastleigh extolling his virtues as a family man. The flyer included three photographs of him with his wife and children accompanied by handwritten captions including "Getting married does not seem like 26 years ago" and "Family matters to me so much. Where would we be without them?" .. There was further criticism that after the election and he had been appointed as the tenth most senior member of the government cabinet by continuing a clandestine sexual affair (without the knowledge of his wife, family, party leader or prime minister) while serving as a member of the government, Huhne had exposed himself to the dangers of blackmail. Before embarking on his political career, he made a substantial amount of money as a City entrepreneur. He told The Independent in 2008: "I don't claim that I'm in other than a very happy position compared with most people, because, having spent a bit of time in the City before I was elected, being able to make a bit of money while I was there, I have a cushion." The report also names Christopher O'Meara, Lehman's head of risk, and two former chief financial officers, Erin Callan and Ian Lowitt. The report reveals that they were also warned by Martin Kelly, Lehman's former global financial controller, that the lack of economic substance to Repo 105 transactions meant "reputational risk" to Lehman if their use became known. The report also reveals that Linklaters approved the Repo 105 transactions for Lehman, after the bank was unable to find any US lawyers willing to do so."
