Dutch Shell and Ukraine

Editor's note: If anyone is wondering why the British are heavily involved in what is happening in Ukraine look no further than Dutch Shell ($261.5 billion revenue in 2021). Up until just recently, Dutch Shell has been purchasing Russian natural gas and oil. Despite this, Royal Dutch Shell made $20 million on bargain prices off one deal and to take attention away from their profitting, Dutch Shell is providing funds for Ukraine in light of Russia's "special operation" (police action) in Ukraine. Part of that police action is likely related to recovering an estimated $4.7 billion Ukraine owes to Russia in oil tariffs. Russia will find it impossible to collect this $4.7 billion in oil tariffs considering Ukraine is just about the most corrupt country there is. Dutch Shell has a fifty year contract for shale oil with Ukraine that also includes exploration. Being one of the world's largest businesses, the "Shell" Transport and Trading Company, a U.K.-registered company, has a 40% interest in the group, and the remaining 60% is owned by the Royal Dutch Petroleum Company, a Netherlands company (European aristocratic elite). Recently, Dutch Shell ditched the "royal" in its name.
