Editor's note: ...develops selective amnesia. This is the same country whose military once gunned down Iraqi civilians from a helicopter—one of them a journalist—and even shot up the van that stopped to help, seriously injuring a little girl who was in the van. But now, suddenly, U.S. commentary is in full moral-indignation mode over the deaths of two Venezuelans in the water after their boat was destroyed? The whiplash from this "principled" outrage is almost impressive. Then the killings in Iraq were all sanitized by bureaucratic talk.
