Interpretations of drone warfare
Editor's note: Armstrong Economics seems to be going sideways on the Russian SMO in Ukraine suggesting Ukraine's use of netting is evidence of widespread Russian drone attacks on civilians. This is incorrect. The Russian military is not targeting civilians with ample evidence available for those who take the time to discover for themselves. The presence of anti-drone nets reflects precautionary measures not in contested airspace, but to protect military vehicles moving along these roadways. This is not proof of deliberate civilian targeting. The use of drones in modern warfare involves reconnaissance and military logistics, and both sides employ similar countermeasures. By implying intent without evidence, Armstrong Economics overstates its claims and misrepresents the nature of drone use in the carnage continuing to unfold in Ukraine.
