California is economically imploding...
Editor's note: ...with California's fuel crisis being largely the result of its own climate regulations. Stringent environmental rules and aggressive decarbonization mandates have made refinery operations economically untenable, driving shutdowns and eliminating significant in-state capacity. Critics argue that Newsom's climate agenda has created artificial scarcity, pushing fuel production out of Newsom's (British Pilgrims Society asset) California while leaving consumers to face higher prices and supply instability. A likely scenario unfolding in California is that this dynamic can drive businesses and jobs out of the state, erode tax revenue, and weaken economic competitiveness. Turning climate policy from a long-term environmental strategy into a short-term economic liability if not balanced with energy stability. California's vehicle inspections routinely cost far more than advertised. They often can run hundreds or even thousands of dollars once mandatory repairs, retests, and compliance requirements are imposed. What's framed as a simple smog check effectively operates as another hidden tax, compounding California residents' growing burden amid rising fuel prices, fees, and state taxes.
