Prosecutor spokesman Ralf Herrenbrueck said the search terms included medical treatment and suicide methods, while on at least one day, the pilot looked at terms involving cockpit doors and their security methods .. The announcement came after it emerged Lubitz had been prescribed an anti-anxiety drug so strong doctors have to warn patients of the increased risk of suicide. The 27-year-old had been given medication to combat 'depression, anxiety disorders and panic attacks' in the weeks leading up to the disaster. One of the drugs, Lorazepam, is so powerful that patients are advised not to drive a car, let alone fly a commercial plane. .. Lorazepam belongs to a class of drugs called benzodiazepines which treat a variety of conditions including anxiety, sleeping problems and other mental health disorders. Patients with psychiatric issues are warned it could lead to changes in behaviour. Worryingly, this can include an increased risk of suicide, particularly in the early stages of treatment. Users are also advised to get at least seven hours continuous sleep or it can cause memory loss from the time you wake up to the time the effects of the drug have worn off. Andreas Lubitz had received treatment for 'suicidal tendencies' but doctors were apparently unable to tell his employer because of strict secrey laws introduced after WWII to prevent a repeat of government spying during the Nazi era Strict German privacy laws which prevented doctors treating Andreas Lubitz from telling his airline about his 'suicidal tendencies' were introduced in response to Nazi rule. The Germanwings pilot had been forced to stop his training because of severe depression and had received psychotherapy for several years before last week's Alps disaster. But German law meant it was left entirely up to him to volunteer his mental health problems to his employer, something he failed to do with devastating consequences after tearing up a sick note for the day of the crash. The findings from the investigation have prompted heated debate in Germany on a patient's right to privacy, with Chancellor Angela Merkel proposing an inquiry to re-examine the law."
