According to a few media accounts, the corpses of two Russian oligarchs, along with their wives and children, were discovered barely a day apart.
Despite the fact that the victims' names were not included in the Russian government's public statement, Tass reported that an unknown source later revealed their identities.
Investigators suspect Avayev shot his wife and daughter before killing himself, according to their statement.
The second oligarch was discovered dead 2,000 miles away in Spain.
Sergei Protosenya, along with his wife and children, were found stabbed to death. He was discovered with a bloodied knife and axe by his side, according to local media reports. Protosenya was the vice president and head accountant of Novatek, a significant gas business with close links to Gazprombank, prior to his death.
Protosenya, his wife, and their daughter were living in a rented luxury resort in Lloret de Mar, a seaside Catalan town, during the Easter holiday at the time of their murders.
