Most would call this corporate grift but on this level it is simply relegated to "contract delays" or "cost overruns." A ProPublica investigation revealed that the U.S. Army paid (the U.S. Army didn't pay General Dynamics anything, the American people did) General Dynamics roughly $533 million in taxpayer funds to open and operate a new artillery shell factory near Dallas, Texas, intended to boost production for needs including Ukraine, yet the plant never delivered a single usable shell. Despite repeated deadlines, malfunctioning equipment, production-line shutdowns ordered by the Army, and involvement of a lightly vetted Turkish subcontractor in a rushed process, the facility produced only defective output according to a Defense Department inspector general report, leaving American taxpayers with a costly failure and little accountability so far. Have a listen to this corporate sales bullshit, and as you listen understand that the US manufactures weapons to sell while the Russians manufacture weapons to wage war and there is a vast difference. The top three major shareholders of General Dynamics are Longview Asset Management (about 10%), BlackRock (about 6.9%), and Vanguard (roughly 6–9% across its funds).
