Black Americans subsequently adopted the game and grafted it onto their own unique experiences and subculture within American life, developing distinctive styles, independent teams, and eventual high levels of excellence. What Black communities might have done in the absence of basketball's invention remains unknowable; in more recent decades becuase of cultural Marxism like some sort of uncontrollable metastasizing cancer, has wormed its way into the sport potentially destroying it for both Blacks and Whites. The overriding concern here is who exactly is it pitting Whites against Blacks in this culture war?

Professional basketball legends like Larry Bird, Jerry West, Dirk Nowitzki, Pete Maravich, and John Stockton rank among the finest white players in basketball history. Bird combined elite shooting, court vision, and competitiveness to win three MVPs and three titles with the Celtics. West earned the nickname "Mr. Clutch" as a prolific scorer and the silhouette for the NBA logo.
