What these two wonks are ultimately defending is British interference in the Middle East that President Trump seems to be dismantling (see US National Security Strategy) as hard as that is to possibly accept. The Muslim Brotherhood has been used for the past century to smash through the Middle East as a proxy for British geopolitical control of the Arab states because the British until now would not tolerate Arab nationalism. Now everybody in the Middle East including Israel will be forced to cooperate. President Trump is confronting the Muslim Brotherhood's transnational network, which fuels terrorism™ and destabilization campaigns against US interests and allies in the Middle East. The Muslim Brotherhood was always a British intelligence creation going back to the 1920s.
