Guinea fowl are ground-foraging birds...

Editor's note: ...prized for their strong appetite for ticks, often spending the entire day roaming through grass and brush in search of them. When managed properly, a small flock of Guinea fowl can significantly reduce tick populations over time, making them a popular natural pest-control option. However, they are notably loud and can be disruptive, especially in quieter areas. It's also best to start with young birds (known as keets), as they tend to imprint on and stay with a property, whereas fully grown adults are more likely to wander off.
