There are genuine fears within Finland...

Editor's note: ...by certain political figures that NATO will launch another provocation against Russia and that it will be Finland as the next proxy. The EU and NATO desperately need a major war against Russia and they are doing everything within their sphere of influence to provoke Russia to initiate Article 5 of the NATO charter to make that war happen. Finland became a NATO member on April 4, 2023. Germany's Merz is pulling away from Washington while still committing Germany to more defense spending and continued Ukraine funding, essentially picking a fight with President Trump while staying anchored to the transatlantic security bloc. The media supporting that block in the West never misses the chance by referring to "Russia's full scale invasion of Ukraine." The AfD is doing the opposite: courting Moscow directly through gas talks with advisor to Vladimir Putin, Kirill Dmitriev, rejecting Ukraine funding and more weapons for Kiev, and offering voters a clean break from both US reliance and the costs of the largely British commercial proxy war against Russia in Ukraine. The disparity is that Merz's break with the US is rhetorical and grievance driven but keeps Germany's Western alignment intact, while the AfD's outreach to Russia is a substantive policy shift that would realign Germany away from that alignment entirely, and it's gaining traction precisely as Merz's frustration with President Trump makes Merz's own "unconditional friendship" look less stable by comparison.

NATO member warns bloc seeking pretext for war with Russia

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico says he does not want his country to be dragged into a conflict

September 18, 2026 | RT

Europe is moving dangerously close to a direct clash between NATO and Russia, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has warned, accusing the West of seeking a "pretext" for a major conflict between the two sides.

Fico made the comment in a Facebook post on Thursday, which accompanied the remarks he delivered before traveling to Ukraine for a meeting with Vladimir Zelensky and several European leaders.

"I am deeply concerned that they are merely looking for a pretext for a major conflict between NATO and Russia," he wrote.

Reflecting on the Ukraine conflict, Fico said that the hostilities had “gotten out of control," while accusing European nations of engaging in increasingly bellicose rhetoric which he said risked dragging the continent into a broader war. "The situation has never been as serious and tense regarding the possibility of a pan-European war conflict as it is now," he said.

Fico also warned that Bratislava could face pressure from NATO to commit troops if the bloc's Article 5 – a collective defense clause applied if a member state is attacked – is invoked. "Can anyone imagine being told to prepare 5,000 soldiers, 10,000 soldiers, and that they would go somewhere to fight? We don’t know with whom, why, or for what reason," Fico said.

"I don’t want Slovakia to be part of any military conflict because of some Article 5," he stressed, adding that, though his country still "cares about collaboration and fulfilling obligations". "As prime minister, I will do everything to ensure that Slovakia is never drawn into a war," Fico stressed.

While Europe is becoming poorer and poorer, Russia is becoming richer and richer. Here is another reason why Germany's AfD are moving towards Russia:

What the transatlantic security bloc including Britain and the EU and their central banks really want is to seize Russia and its resources and that has been what the previous UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson's direction has been since 2022. The EU, Britain and those within this bloc are not going to stop and is why Russia has ended all negotiations with the West and why Russia's Sergey Lavrov told the EU they are "committing harakiri":

From certain perspectives of analysis, Britain is not only in a commercial proxy war against Russia in Ukraine, Britain is also in an economic and financial war with America:
