18 May 2010—If you asked people what the two key events in the 20th century were, most would likely point to World Wars I and II because they transformed civilization. However, can something like the debate over climate change be as equally transformative?

James Delingpole spoke at the Heartland Institute’s International Conference on Climate Change on May 17, and insisted he wasn’t being hyperbolic when he likened the climate change debate to the two world wars. Delingpole, who coined the term “ClimateGate,” alleged the debate of the issue and the potential policies it may lead to would in fact shape the world as those two events had.

Expert report says claims of livestock causing global warming are false

It is becoming difficult to keep pace with the speed at which the global warming scam is now unravelling. The latest reversal of scientific “consensus” is on livestock and the meat trade as a major cause of global warming – one-fifth of all greenhouse gas emissions, according to eco-vegetarian cranks. Now a scientific report delivered to the American Chemical Society says it is nonsense. The Washington Times has called it “Cowgate”.

The cow-burp hysteria reached a crescendo in 2006 when a United Nations report ominously entitled “Livestock’s Long Shadow” claimed: “The livestock sector is a major player, responsible for 18 per cent of greenhouse gas emissions measured in CO2e (carbon dioxide equivalents). This is a higher share than transport.” This led to demands in America for a “cow tax” and a campaign in Europe at the time of the Copenhagen car crash last December called Less Meat=Less Heat.

European fraudsters steal $7B in carbon credit scam

Fraud within Europe's carbon credit trading system has cost taxpayers more than $7 billion in the last 18 months, European police said Friday.

Officials at Europol, the body in charge of co-ordinating police forces inside the European Union, say fraudulent activity on the EU's Emission Trading System was first suspected in late 2008 when police noticed the volume of trades in certain countries would mysteriously spike.

"It is estimated that in some countries, up to 90 per cent of the whole market volume was caused by fraudulent activities," Europol said.

Since late 2008, the total value of fraudulent activity is believed to be in excess of five billion euros ($7.7 billion Cdn) from bogus trades in European unit allowances, or EUAs, the credits that companies in some countries buy to offset their greenhouse gas output. continue reading

5 March 2010—A sharp-eyed viewer has noticed that when I was debating George Monbiot on TV yesterday and I mentioned that his cherished “peer-reviewed science” had been discredited by Climategate he bared his teeth like a cornered cur. Says my body language expert John Lish:

“It was a quite aggressive and defensive gesture which was noticeable when he was attempting to dismiss you (talking about peer review). A definite body-language sign of being rattled. He’s definitely uncomfortable about what’s occurring and others will have spotted that as well.”

Monbiot isn’t the only one. Consider the paranoid tone of this email from climate-fear-promoter Paul Ehrlich, during an exchange with fellow members at the National Academy of Scientists on how best to deal with the Denier threat: (Hat tip: Marc Morano)

All this is a roundabout way of answering one of my editors’ kind suggestions that I respond to this morning’s front page story in which some desperate scientists at the embarrassing, useless and parti pris Met Office have apparently attempted to repair their creaky, wheel-less AGW bandwagon with a hurried new botch job report. Sorry, but I don’t think many of us are going to fall for this nonsense any more.

Monbiot tried it on yesterday with his free two and half minute propaganda broadcast generously funded by the BBC’s The Daily Politics show in which he rehashed all his old arguments (man’s selfishness, rising sea-levels, plight of the poor, wind farms, blah di blah di blah) as though Climategate, Glaciergate, Pachaurigate, Amazongate, Africagate et al had never happened. Now the MET office is having a go.

Sorry chaps, it won’t wash. The debate has moved on. It’s not about “the science” any more. (Not that it ever was). It’s about economics. Politics. Money. The taxpayer versus Big Government.

1 Mar 2010—Professor Phil Jones, who has stepped down as the director of Climatic Research Unit (CRU) based at the University of East Anglia (UEA) pending the findings of an independent inquiry, is questioned in public for the first time since the internet posting of the East Anglia scientists’ emails.

Global warming claims of future increases in temperature are based on flawed computer models. The models are protected from investigation by proprietary patent claims by the companies that made the software models. The flawed software models give inaccurate results which support global warming claims.

In part 2 of the video above, Professor Edward Acton, vice-chancellor of the University of East Anglia, told the committee that it was not possible to make the entire international data set available because of a “commercial promise”. “We are longing to publish it”, he said. He explained that a number of contributing nations—including Canada, Poland and Sweden—had refused to make their segments of data publicly available.

1 Jan 2010—Utah State Representatives introducted House Joint Resolution 12 which implies that climate change science is a conspiracy and urges the United States Environmental Protection Agency to stop all carbon dioxide reduction policies and programs.

Citing the hacked emails between scientists at the Climate Research Unit at University of East Anglia and their colleagues, the resolution states there is “a well organized and ongoing effort to manipulate global temperature data in order to produce a global warming outcome” and declares that the EPA's endangerment finding is “based on flawed climate data.”

The resolution calls on the EPA “to immediately halt its carbon dioxide reduction policies and programs and withdraw its ‘Endangerment Finding’ and related regulations until a full and independent investigation of the climate data conspiracy and global warming science can be substantiated.”

9 Feb 2010—At 7 am in Salt Lake City, David Hawkins and Field McConnell appeared on Utah's Jack Stockwell radio talk show (KTKK AM 630) and discussed the 9/11 Carbon scam and associated cat bond risks to state pension funds. Later that day, Utah’s House of Representatives passed the climate change resolution (56-17) which now goes to the state Senate (we’ll be watching).

India forms New Climate Change Body

4 Feb 2010—The Indian government has established its own body to monitor the effects of global warming because it “cannot rely” on the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, the group headed by its own leading scientist Dr R.K Pachauri.

The move is a significant snub to both the IPCC and Dr Pachauri as he battles to defend his reputation following the revelation that his most recent climate change report included false claims that most of the Himalayan glaciers would melt away by 2035. Scientists believe it could take more than 300 years for the glaciers to disappear.
The body and its chairman have faced growing criticism ever since as questions have been raised on the credibility of their work and the rigour with which climate change claims are assessed.

In India the false claims have heightened tensions between Dr Pachauri and the government, which had earlier questioned his glacial melting claims. In Autumn, its environment minister Mr Jairam Ramesh said while glacial melting in the Himalayas was a real concern, there was evidence that some were actually advancing despite global warming.

Dr Pachauri had dismissed challenges like these as based on “voodoo science”, but last night Mr Ramesh effectively marginalized the IPC chairman even further.

He announced the Indian government will established a separate National Institute of Himalayan Glaciology to monitor the effects of climate change on the world’s ‘third ice cap’, and an ‘Indian IPCC’ to use ‘climate science’ to assess the impact of global warming throughout the country.

“There is a fine line between climate science and climate evangelism. I am for climate science. I think people misused [the] IPCC report, [the] IPCC doesn’t do the original research which is one of the weaknesses… they just take published literature and then they derive assessments, so we had goof-ups on Amazon forest, glaciers, snow peaks.

“I respect the IPCC but India is a very large country and cannot depend only on [the] IPCC and so we have launched the Indian Network on Comprehensive Climate Change Assessment (INCCA),” he said.

30 Jan 2010—The climate change fraud that is now unravelling is unprecedented in its deceit, unmatched in scope—and for the liberal elite, akin to 9 on the Richter scale.  

Never have so few fooled so many for so long, ever.

The entire world was being asked to change the way it lives on the basis of pure hyperbole. Propriety, probity and transparency were routinely sacrificed.

The truth is: the world is not heating up in any significant way. Neither are the Himalayan glaciers going to melt as claimed by 2035. Nor is there any link at all between natural disasters such as Hurricane Katrina and global warming. All that was pure nonsense, or if you like, ‘no-science’!

The climate change mafia, led by Dr Rajendra K Pachauri, chairperson of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), almost pulled off the heist of the century through fraudulent data and suppression of procedure. All the while, they were cornering millions of dollars in research grants that heaped one convenient untruth upon another. And as if the money wasn’t enough, the Nobel Committee decided they should have the coveted Peace Prize.

But let’s begin at the beginning. Mr Pachauri has no training whatsoever in climate science. This was known all the time, yet he heads the pontification panel which proliferates the new gospel of a hotter world. How come? Why did the United Nations not choose someone who was competent? After all, this man is presumably incapable of differentiating between ocean sediments and coral terrestrial deposits, nor can he go about analysing tree ring records and so on. That’s not jargon; these are essential elements of a syllabus in any basic course on climatology.

You cannot blame him. His degree and training is in railroad engineering. You read it right. This man was educated to make railroads from point A to point B.

Carbon Disclosure Project Poised to be the Earth's Dictator

10 Downing Street, the headquarters for The Carbon Disclose Project (CDP), could become the address of the “King of the World”.

CDP has a credit pool of $55 trillion. Not satisfied with this paltry amount, the CDP is currently targeting and strong-arming companies which have not joined the CDP. The organization is instructing its existing members to cut off suppliers who do not relegate CO2 emissions to the standard set by the CDP. Suppliers will not have much choice if their clients are Dell, Walmart, IBM, ConAgra or other power houses who can dictate terms to suppliers.

The CDP states that its reason for this demand is altruistic—the planet needs to be saved from man-made global warming (AWG). The CDP states that it is acting in the best interests of the suppliers to save these companies from themselves—this is, from destroying themselves because of their failure to cut CO2 emissions.

Strategists secretly initiate rules years in advance (usually with public funding although unknown by the public) and participate in ‘dictator games’ to hone their skills before actually implementing the new rules.

Man-made global warming was one example—a carefully thought out and well orchestrated psychological operation/protection racket. The idea was to create a new rule—the idea that the Earth was in grave danger from man-made CO2 emissions. The solution was a system of Carbon Trading Credits to be administered and controlled by the dictator who would reward those who were friendly to the dictator’s plan.

The rule of global warming is a lie created by the dictator and spread by the dictator’s loyalists. If allowed to continue, the result will be the biggest robbery in history—thievery on a global scale. The looting of very man, woman and child on Earth. “Your money or your life.”

In June, 2001, Thomas Barnett, strategist at the U.S. Naval War College, held a workshop—Cantor Fitzgerald/eSpeed Conference—in Windows on the World at the top of the North Tower of the World Trade Center directly above the Cantor Fitzgerald complex of offices.

Among those attending was Rajendra Pachauri currently chairman of the International Panel on Climate Change, IPCC. During the workshop the participants engaged in a game to exercise the new rules of Carbon Emissions Trading. Cantor Fitzgerald/eSpeed had developed software for the Carbon Trading used in the game, a system which did not exist at the time.

The game involved a 2010-2020 timeframe and the participants:

• profiled how the world could develop regimes friendly to the idea of man-made global warming
  
• developed headlines for media involving a global warming crisis
• wrote private advisory emails to the national security advisors of presidents/premiers/prime ministers from the involved great powers, telling them why they should consider the global warming crisis a national security issue
• suggested individuals who had successfully brought the global community together over the issue of global warming for the Nobel Prize and other awards
  
• asked what they say to a key decision maker about global warming if they should they unexpectedly meet in an elevator, cocktail party or other venue
  

These individuals were planning a global warming scenario that would involve trillions of dollars of carbon trading credits years before the Chicago Climate Exchange opened for trading in 2003, years before the media began reporting on carbon credits and long before Al Gore released An Inconvenient Truth in 2006. Rajendra Pachauri participated in a game suggesting the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to himself and Al Gore.

Before corporate American and the public were aware of Carbon Emissions Trading, Rajendra Pachauri, Al Gore, Goldman Sachs, Richard Sandor (chairman and founder of the Chicago Climate Exchange) and other soldiers of the dictator were well positioned to buy up the carbon credits so that they can amass billions of dollars through a scheme to trade them to manufacturers who exhaust their limit. The Obama administration faces a challenge in Congress that could strip it of its powers to cut greenhouse gas emissions, barely a month after committing to action at the Copenhagen climate change summit.

An Alaska Republican, Senator Lisa Murkowski, is expected to put forward a proposal for a vote as early as tomorrow that would seek to prevent the federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) from regulating greenhouse gas emissions.

A show of support for Murkowski's proposal would be a personal humiliation for Obama who told the Copenhagen summit that America was committed to action on climate change. It also threatens to remove a fall-back position if Congress fails to pass a climate change law.

Climate law has stalled in the Senate and Democratic leaders had sought to use the possibility of EPA regulation as a prod to get Senate to start moving again. Democrats admit the underlying message of Murkowski's proposed vote – that action on climate is bad – could completely kill off its chances.

"It's a highly political move, and a highly hazardous one to our health and the environment," said Harry Reid, the Senate majority leader at a conference in New York. "If this senator succeeds, it could keep Congress from working constructively in a bipartisan manner to pass clean energy legislation this year."

Thirty-seven environmental and health organisations have condemned Murkowski's effort to block the EPA. The senator has also been widely criticised for calling on energy industry lobbyists to help draft her proposals.

But Robert Dillon, a spokesman for Murkowski, argued she was trying to stop Democrats from using the stick of EPA regulation to force through flawed measures. "What this vote means is that you can't use this to blackmail Congress to pass bad legislation. The whole approach has been the administration threatening Congress that if you don't pass bad legislation, we are going to pass worse regulation," he said.

Detroit Auto Makers Reject Man-Made Global Warming

Before a Detroit Athletic Club audience in downtown Detroit, The Detroit News and WJR Radio brought together leaders from the fields of climatology, energy politics, and the auto industry to debate whether the so-called Climategate scandal has undermined auto regulations.

Pat Michaels: Michaels is currently a Distinguished Senior Fellow in the School of Public Policy at George Mason University. During his 30-year tenure as professor of Environmental Sciences at University of Virginia, he was president of the American Association of State Climatologists and program chair for the Committee on Applied Climatology of the American Meteorological Society. His work has been published in many major scientific journals, and was awarded climate "Paper of the Year" by the Association of American Geographers in 2004.

Michaels, a warming critic, was the target of some of the leaked East Anglia emails apparently trying to marginalize dissent. Michaels holds degrees in biological sciences and plant ecology from the University of Chicago, and a Ph.D. in ecological climatology from the University of Wisconsin at Madison.

Henry Pollack: Pollack is Professor of Geophysics (Emeritus) in the Department of Geological Sciences at the University of Michigan. Pollack has served on many advisory panels for the National Science Foundation, and provided briefings about climate change to Congress and the White House. He has published widely in scientific journals, is a Contributing Author to the Nobel Prize winning Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Assessment Report, and a science advisor to former Vice-President Al Gore's Climate Project.

Several of the leaked East Anglia climate e-mails were authored by Mr. Pollack, and others discussed his research. He is the author of Uncertain Science...Uncertain World (Cambridge University Press, 2003).

Cattlemen fight EPA with 'Climategate'

A national beef group is invoking the so-called "Climategate" controversy as it challenges a recent U.S. government ruling on climate change.

The National Cattlemen's Beef Association has filed a petition to the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Washington, D.C. to overturn the EPA's recent greenhouse gas "endangerment" ruling.

The ruling states that gases believed to cause global warming pose a human health risk and is the first step toward their regulation by the EPA under the Clean Air Act. The NCBA and other producer groups fear the ruling could lead to lawsuits and new restrictions on the nation's livestock industries.

The NCBA plans to argue the government's finding is based on faulty and incomplete science and that the Clean Air Act is the improper vehicle for regulating greenhouse gases, said Tamara Thies, the organization's chief environmental counsel.

"We are taking a position that we do not believe the science with regard to alleged manmade climate change is there," Thies said. "The EPA has a responsibility to conduct a rigorous scientific analysis and look at all the science out there instead of just cherry-picking certain studies that agree with its position about manmade climate change."

The cattle group points to Climategate, in which critics allege that e-mails stolen from Great Britain's University of East Anglia show bias and manipulation of data by scientists on the United Nations' Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. The fact that the EPA relied on some of the IPCC's data to make its finding makes the ruling questionable, Thies said.

"The EPA has only considered some (evidence) and never really seriously considered that climate change could actually be caused by natural causes," she said.

In a statement to the Capital Press, an EPA spokeswoman said the agency is confident that it will prevail in court, adding that the Supreme Court had ordered the agency to answer the endangerment question.

There would be "no basis whatsoever" to deny "a fact that is recognized by overwhelming scientific consensus" that the earth is warming, the statement said. The spokeswoman would not comment on NCBA's references to Climategate.

Under the Clean Air Act, parties have 60 days after a rule has been promulgated to appeal to the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals. Once the appeal period for this ruling ends Feb. 15, the parties will likely decide on a briefing schedule and a hearing date will be set, Thies said.

The time between the filing of petitions to a court decision can vary, but generally it takes about 18 months to 2 years, Thies said.

The appeal comes as Republicans in the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives have vowed to try to block the EPA's ruling. Thies argues that Congress, not the EPA, should be the body to enact legislation regarding climate change.

"When it's put in Congress' hands, the democratic process is at work and Congress can decide, 'Is it appropriate to regulate greenhouse gases or not?'" she said. "When the EPA decides in a dictatorial fashion that they should be regulated ... we're very concerned about that process."

13 Jan 2010—When I say the climate is changing, I do not mean, as many people do, that man-made global warming is destroying Planet Earth. I mean that the politics of climate change is changing rapidly all over the globe. Al Gore's moment has come and gone.

In the United States, Democrats, nervously facing midterm elections, are calling on President Obama to jettison the cap-and-trade bills before the Senate. In Canada, the emissions-trading scheme—another term for cap-and-trade—is stalled in legislative limbo. In Britain, Tories are coming out against David Cameron's green stance. In the European Union, cap-and-trade has been the victim of fraudulent traders and the carbon price has more than halved to $18.50 per ton. In France, the Constitutional Council has blocked President Nicolas Sarkozy's tax on carbon emissions that was set to take effect in the New Year.

In Copenhagen, meanwhile, the United Nations' climate-change summit went up in smoke. And in Mexico City later this year hopes for any verifiable, enforceable and legally binding agreement to reduce greenhouse gases—and to bring in developing nations such as China and India that were, insanely, omitted from the Kyoto protocol in 1997—are a chimera.

Add to this that Washington was buried by record-breaking snowfalls last month, that hurricane activity is at a 30-year low in the U.S., that London is bracing itself for its coldest winter in decades, and that there has still been no recorded global warming this century, and it is no wonder public skepticism is rising across the world.
