People really do need to get their...

Editor's note: ...shit together when interpreting, reporting on, posting about and commenting on these news stories concerning what they think politicians said or didn't say. David Eby, the Canadian lawyer and politician serving as Premier of British Columbia, Canada never uttered the statement that "everything the Canadian worker makes belongs to the state." This narrative is a complete online misrepresentation that distorts left of center economic policy into an exaggerated fabrication. The claim originated not from official government policy or public statements, but from hyper partisan rhetoric and social media commentary designed to satirize and exaggerate social democratic taxation. Critics frequently frame progressive tax regimes, high income brackets, and wealth redistribution programs as "state overreach" (and they are not entirely wrong either), and online commentary gradually reshaped these abstract ideological arguments into a fake, direct quote attributed directly to Eby. In truth, Premier Eby has consistently championed policies aimed at middle class tax relief, inflation indexed minimum wage increases, and targeted public investments in housing and healthcare rather than any system of total state ownership over private labor.
