Nothing endangers the world more than a belief held with absolute certainty
Editor's note: President Trump's speech in the Israeli Knesset opened with the following: "Mr. President, Mr. Prime Minister, Mr. Speaker, esteemed members of the Knesset and cherished citizens of Israel, we gather on a day of profound joy, of soaring hope, of renewed faith, and above all, a day to give our deepest thanks to the almighty God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob." The male Abrahamic religions should scare the shit out of everyone. History shows that beliefs, when unexamined, possess a unique capacity in the human mind to legitimize violence, reshape societies, and blind individuals to their own brutality. The recent false claim about a Jesus statue to be erected at the White House was AI-generated fiction—made more dangerous by the frightening possibility that its creator actually believes in Christianity. With the murder of Charlie Kirk we are made to see events through the lens of divine mandates and secret "holy allegiances," showing that belief in religious identity and destiny impels believers to commit violence under the assumption they are fulfilling God's (a male God) will. Israel: Religious impunity to do anything it wants. Next up: Iran.
