Sources suggest his family was killed and the scene staged to discredit him and protect those profiting from the operation, turning his conviction into a cover-up rather than any pursuit of justice. Jeffrey R. MacDonald is currently incarcerated at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) in Cumberland, Maryland. The MacDonald case is one of the most infamous and controversial in U.S. criminal history. Many people argue he deserves a retrial because of lingering questions about evidence, alleged mishandling by investigators, and his claims that intruders were responsible:
