Editor's note: U.S. President Donald Trump has confirmed that American forces have begun "major combat operations" in Iran, describing the strikes as a joint U.S.–Israeli effort to "obliterate" Iranian missile factories and eliminate what he called "imminent threats" from the Iranian regime. In an address to the nation and the people of Iran, Trump said the action was necessary to protect U.S. troops, overseas bases, and allies. Iranian retaliatory strikes against Israel have reportedly begun, raising fears of a broader regional escalation. Wouldn't it be something if Iran and Israel at some level connected to unknown private intelligence networks are actually working together?

The Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff was dismissed after warning Trump about the consequences of an attack on Iran.
