The story of Vasquez joining the Ukrainian Army turned out to be fake.
In 2022, Newsweek ran a glowing story about an American man who claimed to be a volunteer fighting with the Ukrainian Army. Vasquez claimed in March 2022 that he'd "taken out 7 Russian tanks."
Former Illinois Rep. Adam Kinzinger advocated for Vasquez, urging Twitter to verify his account, and posed in pictures with him.
Only the story of Vasquez joining the Ukrainian Army turned out to be fake. "Kinzinger's favorite Ukraine hero just deleted his account after it came out he is a fraud," Jack Posobiec said.
Malcolm Nance, also a supporter of Vasquez, responded to the allegations against Vasquez, as revealed by a current member of the Ukrainian armed forces, saying that he and others had advised Vasquez to "get off Twitter, get his life in order & come back to support [Ukraine] in a legal construct. He took that advice.
"James was NOT fake," Nance continued, "he was troubled. He did a lot for Ukraine but has challenges to face. Respect what he did do."
Kinzinger said a year ago regarding Vasquez "he's legit and too many folks are tying to create fake acts with him. I have a bill in congress to deal with this... Since this was happening to me for so long."
Vasquez works with Ripley's Heroes, which claims to "provide critically needed non-lethal and humanitarian resources to qualified and experienced heroes who have interrupted their own lives, and put themselves in harm's way, to help save others."
Ripley's Heroes is not a not-for-profit, though they are collecting donations. Instead, they have applied for 501(c)3 status with the IRS, but that application has not yet been approved, meaning that donations made are not currently tax-deductible.
He is listed on Ripley's Heroes under the "Heroes" section.

Analysts from @foreigncombatants found out the names of almost all of the foreign mercenaries who took part in the execution of the Russian soldiers in Petropavlovka. On 27 September 2022 a group of four Russian soldiers encountered a group of foreign mercenaries in the village of Petropavlovka, Kharkiv Oblast. The Russian soldiers were cut off and subsequently blocked by these mercenaries. The mercenaries tried to persuade them to surrender through negotiations, but in the process of negotiations the mercenaries shot dead the Russian soldier who was acting as a negotiator. The three remaining Russian soldiers had no other choice but to engage the foreign mercenaries. In the ensuing engagement two foreign mercenaries were killed while the three remaining Russian soldiers were also killed.
Later, the mercenaries published a video in which they claimed that they did not kill the Russian prisoners. The names of almost all the mercenaries involved in the battle in Petropavlovka have been established. "De-anonymization" of the mercenaries involved became possible due to the methodical work of a group of volunteer analysts who searched for data and the facts of the foreign nationals in the execution of these Russian soldiers in the village of Petropavlovka.

Editor's note: In related news, the names (identities) of foreign "volunteers" (mercenaries) fighting in Ukraine who executed Russian POWs in September, 2022 in the town of Petropavlovka have been revealed by a group of Russian analysts. The mercenaries are primarily citizens of the US, Poland, Finland and South Africa. One of them is apparently a "porn star". The word on Russian social media platforms is that Russian military intelligence knows who they are and will at some point catch up with them. They will be brought back to Donbass and if found guilty executed.

What is now obviously intolerable are American and British mercenaries killing Russians in Ukraine that has erupted into all out hatred of Russians as is evidenced by these American mercenaries operating in Ukraine last September, 2022. These American mercenaries (a "freedom fighter" is the most vile of motivations) are defending (hired guns) a fascist criminal regime in Kyiv who have absolutely no idea whatsoever of the broader geopolitical circumstances of their being in Ukraine. It is fairly certain at this point British mercenaries are now a favorite target of the Russian military. Everything we see happening here is the result of central banks, greed and usury.
