Marcus Tillius Cicero (106 BC – 43 BC) was a Roman philosopher, orator, political theorist, politician, and lawyer. The full Cicero quote is on the feature picture, but this is the specific statement of focus for this article:
He [the traitor] rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist.IMO, that's pretty much where we are. We are living in a nation whose soul is rotting. The real goodness of the people – character that develops from a moral foundation is gone. It has been replaced by the commercial "goodness" of non-profits and their never ending pursuit of money to do good – mostly just making a nice living for themselves, friends and relatives. In this society, money is the only good.
Our body politic was infected in 1976 when the Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe (CSCE) – also known as the U.S. Helsinki Commission was authorized in Public Law 94-304. 22 U.S.C 3001-3009
This Commission which appears to this writer to violate the separation of power doctrine, is listed as a committee/commission of Congress but it is considered an agency of government so we have members of Congress acting as an agency of government leading a corrupt foreign policy operation that is building a system of international law in collusion with a foreign organization. It may have been authorized in law, but it is a cancer that has metastasized.
