Algorithms Will Shape Your World - It Is Time to Lift the Haze off Technology - Is This the World We Want? - Power In The Hands of Shockingly Few

The Gods and Goddesses of Technology

July 5, 2013

“We have artists with no scientific knowledge and scientists with no artistic knowledge and both with no spiritual sense of gravity at all, and the result is not just bad, it is ghastly.” ― Robert M. Pirsig, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance: An Inquiry Into Values

The technology consultants along with the technology companies have convinced people that communications at the speed of light is the solution to all problems. The infrastructure of the world is being rebuilt, corporations and governments restructured around that idea when nothing could be further from the truth.

In the first video, Kevin Slavin argues that we're living in a world designed for and increasingly controlled by algorithms. In this riveting talk from TED Global, Kevin Slavin shows how these complex computer programs determine espionage tactics (what algorithms were being run on 9/11?), stock prices, movie scripts, and architecture. Kevin Slavin also warns us that we are "writing code we can't understand with implications we can't control."

What these technology companies are doing is creating problems that are unsolvable except by totalitarian control because we, as residents of earth are not "one big happy family" and never will be. The technology creates more vulnerabilities than it solves. It creates massive global overhead that the public is supposed to pay for - while the corporations using the technology and the corporations sitting on top of the technology live like Gods and Godesses with everyone else being slaves.

It makes many physically ill to watch presentations like the Ted Talks where they glamorize this "new world" they are creating using lies, half-truths, distortions and omissions. "It's all so cool" and the phony "sharing and caring" crap makes a lot of us gag. The only thing this is about is money and power. That's the final analysis. They are psychopaths and sociopaths and they are going to kill - probably billions of people with their illusions of technological illusions. Truth only matters when concepts are so simple that people can see a clear choice - good and evil. (That's not to say that truth doesn't matter, it just can't be buried beneath so many lies that it must be discerned through the haze). This now means we are confronted with the very real prospect of coming out of the haze and asking ourselves some hard questions.

In this TED Talk, James Glattfelder discusses  complexity: how an interconnected system - say, a swarm of birds - is more than the sum of its parts. And complexity theory, it turns out, can reveal a lot about how the economy works. James Glattfelder shares a groundbreaking study of how control flows through the global economy, and how concentration of power in the hands of a shockingly small number leaves us all vulnerable.

Paddy Ashdown is the first person to really talk about the reorganization of power in clear enough terms that people should be able to see the vision of the reorganization of government and organizations. Unfortunately, even though Paddy Ashdown identifies the reorganization correctly, he seems to think that a global "rule set" (going back to Thomas Barnett; Barnett's vision is reflected in his comments about the events of 9/11 as the "first live broadcast mass snuff film in human history".) will solve everything when the real problem is the global matrix of power itself that is being built. Once built this global control grid will become uncontrollable. As is known, written rules will only be followed if there are consequences to not following. That's how you end up with a global totalitarian system of absolute control - because soft rules won't work and matrix management won't work - there are too many conflicting interests and nobody has enough power to correct problems in a timely way.

Technology has become a religion and its fervent adherents are the priests and the priestesses in the Church of Technology adhering to their mathematical algorithms as absolute church dogma.

In this image it can be observed how technology has converged with CAI Private Equity fund spread betting for C02 snuff counts.
