CLAUDE BEBEAR, chairman of the supervisory board of insurance giant Axa, and Henri de Castries, the company's chief executive, [Bilderberg chairman 2013] were yesterday placed under formal investigation in a money-laundering inquiry.

Mr Bebear and Mr de Castries, who were detained overnight on Tuesday by police from France's Financial Brigade, have been questioned as part of a probe into the affairs of PanEuroLife, a Luxembourg-based life insurer owned by Axa between early 1997 and 1998.

Axa, which stressed on Wednesday that an overnight stay was normal for complex investigations in France and did not constitute a detention, yesterday declined to comment on the latest development.”

SOS Children's Villages in Indonesia

The people of Indonesia have suffered hardships due to natural disasters and political and economic changes. Conflicts in the late 1990s led to an increase in the number of refugees, in particular children who had lost parental care. SOS Children's Villages has responded to the growing needs by increasing its work in the country. Armed conflict in East Timor led SOS Desa Taruna Indonesia to set up an SOS Emergency Relief Programme in 1999. More than 100 refugees from an orphanage in the East Timorese capital, Dili, were taken to SOS Children's Village Flores, where they remained during the war. In December 2004, a tsunami ravaged the northern island of Sumatra. SOS Children's Villages provided immediate emergency relief measures to traumatized children and homeless families. This was followed by the construction of more than 500 private homes and community centres near Banda Aceh and Meulaboh. Generous donations and close cooperation with the local authorities finally made it possible for the organisation to set up three new SOS Children's Villages in Banda Aceh, Medan and Meulaboh.

Young children can be looked after in the SOS Kindergartens, older children in Lembang can attend the SOS Hermann Gmeiner school and young adults can live in special houses where they are supported by professionals. The SOS Social Centres provide health counselling and vital support to families in the community through the SOS Family Strengthening Programmes; working in collaboration with local agencies, they assist families with income generation, parental skills or legal support to allow them to stay together. When children can no longer stay with their families, they are cared for by their SOS mothers in one of the SOS families.”

Coconut Creek

In 1988, the decision was made to establish an SOS Children's Village in the USA, to supplement the traditional foster family system. The first of these was built in the state of Florida at Coconut Creek and opened in 1993. It gives 60 children and young people a safe, loving family environment.

A second Village opened in Lockport, Illinois in 1994, about 30 miles south-east of Chicago. There are ten family homes for up to 90 children and young people. In 2004, the third SOS Children's Village in the USA opened in Chicago itself with the financial support of both the city of Chicago and the state of Illinois. The Village is home for up to 90 children and young people. In addition SOS Children runs a number of community support programmes. These include:

out-patient therapy centre

emergency housing for families with special needs

low cost housing

support for pregnant teenagers and young mothers.

Chicago

SOS Children's Village Chicago opened in 2004.  It has 16 family homes for 90 children and youths.  A couple of special programmes are also ran by SOS Children in Chicago.  A Pregnant and Parenting Teen Programme provides help for young mothers and a Fostering Families Programme provides accommodation for families in emergency situations.

The Good News from Bilderberg 2013 is that Bassma Kodmani, Member of the Executive Bureau and Head of Foreign Affairs for Syrian National Council, was not invited back. That Free Syrian Armt has been a real disaster of late for NATO. That is good news for Syria. The Bad News is that after reading the bios of the Bilderberg attendees David Petraeus is an angel compared to half a dozen of the Israeli Firsters who are also attending including a couple from PNAC. You remember them. The guys who helped do 9/11.

I believe drug companies should pay for the doctors to run trials for new drugs requiring them to be tested against home remedies alternative doctors are currently using. All drugs would be re-tested. The drug company would pay for the trial but a committee of doctors would administer the alternative treatment. For example, give 100,000 patients Vitamin D-3 and cinnamon to stabilize their diabetes. Test them monthly. They should do as well as drugged patients after 3 months with far fewer side effects. Beneficial side effects for Vitamin D3 are fewer winter colds and flu and a reduction of 72% of the incidence of a dozen different cancers. As soon as the results have verified, the government can issue a decree allowing insurance companies to refuse payment for any drug ruled to produce no better results than a home remedy. This would save money and require corporations to focus on real treatments and cures.
