The end of the line for CNN and MSNBC

Editor's note: However CNN and MSNBC leadership have seen their role in presenting news they have failed as viewers continue to ditch these two legacy media companies. It was reported last year that CNN lost 61% of certain demographic viewers in March, 2023. If CNN recovered it obviously wasn't enough as we can see below. The real hidden power in the US are (or were) the news editors. That's the significance of news editors going into government or politics. It's about message packaging with the top side for public consumption. The underside - furthering the agenda of turning the US over to a corporate totalitarian world system. How would you like your "singularity?" Much of this loss of viewers was because of Donald Trump leaving office in 2020.

BREAKING: CNN to lay off hundreds of staff, on-air personalities: report

"Redundant assignments will be nixed, and various divisions will be reduced or even eliminated."

By Hannah Nightingale | November 12, 2024

CNN is set to kick off a round of post-election layoffs that will affect hundreds of employees in the company, including on-air personalities.

Sources told Puck News that the layoffs will take place in the "next few months," and will include "those whose TV production talents won't necessarily be needed in the new digital-first landscape," wrote Puck founding partner Dylan Byers.

Reporters and correspondents would be asked to take on responsibilities handled by production teams, "redundant assignments will be nixed, and various divisions will be reduced or even eliminated."

The outlet said that some on-air talent is "likely" to be affected by the layoffs.

While layoffs are occurring, CNN reportedly plans to create new positions. The layoff and hiring process could result in a net gain in employees to accommodate CEO Mark Thompson's stress on a digital-first business model.
