“Variable yield—or dial-a-yield—is an option available on most modern nuclear weapons. It allows the operator to specify a weapon's yield, or explosive power, allowing a single design to be used in different situations. For example, the Mod-10 B61 bomb had selectable explosive yields of 0.3, 5, 10 or 80 kilotons, depending on how the ground crew set a dial inside the casing when it was loaded onto an aircraft.

Variable yield technology has existed since at least the early 1960s. Examples of variable yield weapons include the B61 nuclear bomb family, B83, W80, W85, and WE177Awarheads.

Most modern nuclear weapons are Teller–Ulam design type thermonuclear weapons, with a fission primary stage and a fusion (or fission) secondary stage which is collapsed by the energy from the primary. These offer at least three methods to vary yield:

Varying primary yield by boosting with fusion, using small amounts of deuterium / tritium gas inside the primary fission bomb to increase its yield. Typically, the gas is injected a few seconds before detonation and the amount used can be preset.

Varying primary yield by varying the timing or use of external neutron initiators (ENIs).[1] These are small particle accelerators that cause a brief fusion reaction by accelerating deuterium into a tritium target (or potentially vice-versa), producing a short energetic pulse of neutrons. Precise timing of the ENI pulse as the nuclear primary's pit is collapsing can significantly affect yield, and the rate of neutron injection can also be controlled.

Shutting down the thermonuclear secondary, either by firing the primary at low enough yield that it does not compress the secondary sufficiently to ignite, or by blocking energy transport inside the warhead briefly as the primary is firing using shutters or a similar mechanism. If the primary's energy starts to disperse through the radiation case before being focused on the secondary then the secondary will likely never detonate.

Our Headquarters is Relocating to 14200 Green Timbers Way, Surrey, BC Starting January 2013

Background

The RCMP E Division Headquarters Relocation Project is a major Crown initiative to relocate and consolidate existing RCMP headquarters units throughout the Metro Vancouver to a new site in the City of Surrey known as the Green Timbers Site.

The project is being procured as a public-private partnership  [allegedly covertly  equipped by Cisco for MitM attacks on the United States through Paulson’s 1999 raid on Starnet in Vancouer and theft  of Entrust public key infrastructure rootkit – Google Macdonald Dettwiler and Associates 1993 Entrust Cisco]. The Government of Canada and Green Timbers Accommodation Partners signed a Project Agreement on April 22, 2010, whereby Green Timbers Accommodation Partners has agreed to a fixed price of $966 million to design, build, finance and maintain the facility for a term ending 25 years after construction.

Right now, Integrated Units and RCMP E Division headquarters’ employees are working out of 25 separate locations throughout Metro Vancouver. A new headquarters facility will help the RCMP improve teamwork, operations and community safety.

Of the 9500 RCMP employees in BC, 7000* are RCMP police officers responsible for front-line policing such as responding to emergency calls, criminal investigations, traffic services and crime prevention.

They also work on initiatives that expand beyond BC’s borders; for example, organized crime, immigration, customs, national security and commercial crime.

EDINBURGH, Ind. — About 5,500 military and civilian personnel from across the country will converge on central Indiana next week for a training exercise to simulate the response to a terrorist attack.

The Army says the exercise named Vibrant Response will start Tuesday and run until Aug. 17 at Camp Atterbury and surrounding 

areas. Camp Atterbury is about 30 miles south of Indianapolis.

The training will include urban and aerial search-and-rescue missions, simulated decontamination operations, airlifts and medical training. The rescue exercises will include extractions from rubble piles.”

WASHINGTON -- The United States issued an extraordinary global travel warning to Americans Friday about the threat of an al Qaeda attack and closed down 21 embassies and consulates across the Muslim world for the weekend.

The alert was the first of its kind since an announcement preceding the tenth anniversary of the 9-11 terrorist attacks. This one comes with the scars still fresh from last year's deadly Sept. 11 attack on a U.S. diplomatic post in Benghazi, Libya, and with the Obama administration and Congress determined to prevent any similar breach of an American Embassy or consulate.

"There is a significant threat stream and we're reacting to it," said Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. He told ABC News in an interview to be aired Sunday that the threat was "more specific" than previous ones and the "intent is to attack Western, not just U.S. interests."

CAMP ATTERBURY, Ind.- Soldiers of Task Force 46 and the 126 Press Camp Headquarters, Michigan Army National Guard, are participating in Exercise Vibrant Response 2013 at Camp Atterbury, Ind.

Vibrant Response is a training exercise that rigorously tests the planning, logistical, operational and other states of readiness of the Michigan Army National Guard and other National Guard units that may respond in the event of a chemical, biological, nuclear or radiological event within the continental United States.

“It is truly an honor and privilege for the Michigan Army National Guard to be selected to participate in Exercise Vibrant Response,” said Brig. Gen. Burton Francisco, Commander of Task Force 46. “This is an important training exercise which will help ensure that the Michigan Army National Guard and other intergovernmental agencies are able to provide effective and timely support to civil authorities in the event of a chemical, nuclear, biological or radiological attack anywhere in the United States.”

Kandahar's prison may not be Stalag Luft III but in terms of ingenuity, organisation and sheer cunning the successful break-out by at least 480Taliban prisoners in the early hours of Monday morning rivals anything pulled off by British POWs in the infamous German prison camp.

According to people involved in the break-out, the Taliban's great escape began with a team of 18 insurgents on the outside spending five months burrowing hundreds of metres underground through the brown soil west of Kandahar city and into Sarpoza prison, taking their tunnel right into the prison's political section where hundreds of Taliban were held.

As the great escape was a break-in rather than a break-out, there was no need to surreptitiously get rid of the earth inside the camp; according to one local media report, the Kandahar plotters simply sold lorry loads of the earth in the city's bazaar from a tunnel stretching a reported 320 metros.

The starting point was a compound directly opposite the prison that from the outside looked like any one of hundreds of building companies that have popped up in areas awash with reconstruction dollars.

But the metal and concrete beams made there were not for building US-sponsored projects. Instead they were used to support a part of the tunnel that went directly underneath a section of Afghanistan's most important road: the stretch of Highway One running between the cities of Kandahar and Herat.”

 TRIPOLI, Libya — More than a thousand inmates escaped a prison Saturday in Libya as protesters stormed political party offices across the country, signs of the simmering unrest gripping a nation overrun by militias and awash in weaponry.

It wasn't immediately clear if the jailbreak at al-Kweifiya prison came as part of the demonstrations. Protesters had massed across Libya over the killing of an activist critical of the country's Muslim Brotherhood group.

Inmates started a riot and set fires after security forces opened fire on three detainees who tried to escape the facility outside of Benghazi, a security official at al-Kweifiya prison said. Gunmen quickly arrived to the prison after news of the riot spread, opening fire with rifles outside in a bid to free their imprisoned relatives, a Benghazi-based security official said.”
