Syria War Lobby that Hosted Genocide Advocate Campaigns to Censor Book Exposing Its Operations
Neocon-backed pro-war lobby group the Syrian American Council pressured the independent DC bookstore Politics and Prose to "postpone" an event with anti-intervention journalist and Grayzone founder Max Blumenthal.

A neoconservative-allied lobbying group that has spent years pushing for US military intervention in Syria helped lead a campaign to silence an award-winning anti-war journalist. This same group previously hosted an opposition activist who publicly called for the genocide of the Alawite religious minority in Syria.
The Syrian American Council, which openly advocates for US bombing of Syria, led a campaign of intimidation to pressure the independent DC bookstore Politics and Prose to cancel an event with Max Blumenthal, the editor of The Grayzone.
Blumenthal was going to speak on April 3 about his new book "The Management of Savagery: How America's National Security State Fueled the Rise of Al Qaeda, ISIS, and Donald Trump," but Politics and Prose buckled under the weight of the pro-war lobby.
We are dismayed that @politicsprose invited Max Blumenthal, an Assad supporter who has mocked victims of war crimes, to speak tomorrow. This sends a dangerous message to P&P's supporters and is damaging to those who have been directly impacted by Assad's atrocities in Syria.— Syrian American Cncl (@sa_council) April 2, 2019
The whistleblowing journalism organization WikiLeaks raised concern over the censorship of Blumenthal, writing in response to Politics and Prose, "Publishers and book sellers should defend freedom of expression."
Politics and Prose is postponing tonight's event at The Wharf with author Max Blumenthal as we work to address concerns that have arisen over the event's format, substance, and security. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience and understanding.— Politics and Prose (@PoliticsProse) April 3, 2019
Syria War Lobby that Hosted Genocide Advocate Campaigns to Censor Book Exposing Its Operations
The Syrian American Council has for years demanded that the US government bomb Syria and further arm anti-government militants, many of whom are hardened Salafi-jihadists or are linked to extremist Takfiri groups like ISIS and al-Qaeda.
Although it claims to be a voice for moderate democrats, the Syrian American Council has given a platform to genocidal fanatics. In 2015, the lobby group hosted Maher Sharafeddine at an anniversary event in Washington, DC. Sharafeddine has publicly incited mass violence and ethnic cleansing against Syria's Muslim Alawite minority.
In a debate on Al Jazeera Arabic in 2015, Sharafeddine declared, "I am warning the Alawites to get out of the country or they will all be slaughtered."
"There can be no reconciliation with the Alawites," Sharafeddine said. "The only way for us to take [power] from them is over their dead bodies."
Sharafeddine was welcomed on Al Jazeera Arabic's flagship show The Opposite Direction, which is hosted by Faisal al-Qassem, who has repeatedly called for the mass murder and ethnic cleansing of Shia in Syria, while whitewashing ISIS and Israel.
In the interview with the Syrian American Council ally, al-Qassem called the Alawite minority "stupid animals," "dogs," and "scum." He proclaimed, "The Alawites don't need demonization; they are demons. Even Satan, the devil himself, is ashamed of them."
"It is the right of the [Sunnis] to demand the slaughter of the Alawites," al-Qassem said. Sharafeddine replied, "Of course, of course."
Leading Lebanese newspaper The Daily Star noted that the program with Sharafeddine featured "explicit calls to collectively 'punish' Syria's Alawites." It described the show as "more of a two-against-one diatribe against the Alawites, as Kassim and Sharafeddine resorted to vulgar rhetoric and sweeping generalizations."

Michael Flynn, Trump and Russia: What Is Really Going On?
Septmber 6, 2016
Michael Flynn is Donald Trump's "favorite general," advising the Republican presidential candidate on foreign policy and may well be brought in as an advisor if Trump succeeds this November.
Politico writes that Flynn “shaped some of Trump's views, including disdain for the recent nuclear agreement with Iran and calls for a far more aggressive strategy to confront Islamic extremism at home and abroad.”
Flynn is a retired three-star US army general and the former head of the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), serving in that role under Obama from 2012 to 2014.
Since retirement Flynn has been busy shopping himself around to media outlets as an "expert" on "terrorism". He co-authored a new book with neocon Michael Ledeen, the self-styled "student" of Machiavellianism, who, conspiring alongside Richard Perle, Paul Wolfowitz, Douglas Feith and other Zionist agents in the Bush administration, led the battle cries for wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and the broader dystopian "war on terror" mission of toppling seven Middle Eastern regimes in 5-10 years. The Flynn-Ledeen book is a pro-War on Terror polemic entitled Field of Fight: How We Can Win the Global War Against Radical Islam and Its Allies. The synopsis reads in part:
Ten years ago we found evidence that al-Qaeda was far more organized and adept than we had previously given them credit for. It took us nearly that long to locate and execute their leader, Osama bin Laden, and we are far from finished. Al-Qaeda has morphed into a much more dangerous, menacing threat: ISIS. A war is being waged against us by radical Islamists, and, as current events demonstrate, they are only getting stronger. This book aims to inform the American people of the grave danger we face in the war on terror―and will continue to face―until our government takes decisive action against the terrorists that want nothing more than to destroy us and our way of life. This all seems oddly out of touch with reality when considering that the agency he headed, the DIA, was the source of the now infamous leaked report that point-blank revealed the Western role in spawning what would become ISIS. The intelligence brief, authored by anonymous DIA analysts under Flynn's leadership in 2012, spoke of how the West and its regional allies stood behind anti-Assad rebel groups in Syria that, it noted, came to be dominated by extreme Salafi Islamists. The agency envisaged that such groups would imminently band together to form a "Salafist principality" in Eastern Syria that could be utilized by the Western powers and their partners as a "strategic opportunity" to "isolate" the Assad regime in Syria as well as Assad's allies in Iran and Hezbollah. The communique has been widely circulated by alternative media and used as evidence that the Obama White House directly and knowingly facilitated the rise of ISIS, which it paradoxically now claims to be at war with. Flynn in a candid interview with Al Jazeera confirmed the authenticity of that document, furthering the argument to say that the Obama administration made a "willful decision" to arm and support rebel groups with extremist proclivities, and that he "argued" with them about the policy.
So Flynn himself admitted publicly that the "terrorists" are a creation of the US government itself, but insists with trepidation that the "threat" from these synthetic terror groups is pressing and real, and must be immediately dealt with. He somehow avoids the paradox that the Pentagon and US intelligence agencies themselves devised, and most likely still have some degree of control over, the very menace they are now disingenuously claiming to fight.
Flynn's delusional garbage is part of a wider campaign of spin doctoring emanating from various Republicans including the Trump campaign which seeks to scapegoat Obama – exonerating the Zionist string-pullers behind the curtain – for the calamities occurring in the Middle East that ultimately trace back to the pre-Obama neocons' Zionist agenda of permanent regime change and destabilization in states – notably Iraq, Syria, Libya, Lebanon and Iran – that rival Israel. It was George W. Bush and his neocon team of war-hawk advisors who first conceived and implemented the policies that have led to the austere predicament the Middle East finds itself in now, and it was they who initiated the "redirection" gambit of arming regional opponents of Assad in Syria, Iran and Hezbollah as far back as 2005. Obama simply picked up where Bush and the neocons left off, following more or less the same or similar framework of perpetual regime-change that his predecessor first set in motion. Now, as his presidency comes to a close, Obama is conveniently being made a scapegoat for the Zionists' dirty work.
Dutifully ignoring this fact, Flynn marches forward, co-authoring books with neocons speaking precisely their language about the "War on Terror," about Iran, and about the need to forge ahead with more militarism in the Middle East as an antidote to "threats" that, by Flynn's own admission, are of America's own making. So what is hell going on here?
