Deborah Sharp Furlong, the wife of former Vancouver 2010 Olympics organizing chief John Furlong and a CBC associate producer, has been killed in a car crash in Ireland.

Ireland's Garda (police) confirmed Friday that Sharp Furlong, 48, died in a Dublin hospital Friday after being involved in a head-on collision with an SUV in Wexford County.

Furlong confirmed from Ireland that his wife died while driving alone.

"While our extended families are beyond words over this loss, we would like to thank our friends and well-wishers for their heartfelt concern and condolences as our families face this sudden and painful tragedy," Furlong said in a short statement.
The pair married last year.

Sharp Furlong was most recently the associate producer of 11 episodes of CBC's Arctic Air series. She also worked on a number of television series, including Cold Squad, Search and Rescue and Stargate SG-1.

Sean Mac Seoin, a press officer with Ireland's police department, said the accident occurred at about 10:30 a.m. local time while Sharp Furlong was driving between Gorey — where she and her husband were living — and Cloughs, 85 kilometres south of Dublin. She was taken by air ambulance to Tallaght Hospital in Dublin, where she died.

A man in his 40s who was driving the second vehicle suffered minor injuries.

Furlong, who was born in Ireland, and Sharp Furlong were living near Gorey while on a vacation.
Her death shocked colleagues at the CBC, said spokeswoman Erin Richards.

"Omnifilm Entertainment and Arctic Air Productions are devastated by the loss of one of their close friends and colleagues," she said. "Deb put her heart and soul into everything she did for the show. To her children and husband, John Furlong, we extend our deepest condolences."

The Vancouver Whitecaps, where Furlong was named executive chairman last year, also extended its condolences.

Sharp Furlong had two children from a previous marriage, and was married twice before she wed Furlong, who is also twice divorced. For a number of years she went by the name Deborah Sharp-Nelles.

In a story in The Vancouver Sun in 1998 she recounted the difficulties of juggling her responsibilities as a mother with her job as a post-production coordinator on Stargate SG-1 [Fictional command center in Cheyenne Mountain where NORAD actors were SNAP hacked on 9/11].

"I think ultimately that there is nothing like a mom at home. However, a happy mom is better than one who is always worried about financial problems and not being able to have any perks with your family unless you have that second income," she said an interview with The Sun's Karen Gram.

The past year has been difficult for Furlong, who spent more than a decade building the successful Vancouver 2010 Olympics. In September a freelance journalist, Laura Robinson, published a story in The Georgia Straight alleging he had physically abused aboriginal students when he was a volunteer teacher in northern B.C. during the 1970s.

In January, after Furlong launched a lawsuit against Robinson and Straight publisher Daniel McLeod and editor Charlie Smith, she issued more statements alleging sexual and domestic abuse. It caused Furlong's extended family, including his two former wives, to publicly rally to his defence.

Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT)
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) is responsible for investigating homicides, police involved shootings and in-custody deaths that occurred within the Lower Mainland areas policed by the RCMP, Abbotsford, and New Westminster police departments.

The areas that IHIT serves:

extends from Pemberton to the US border, and from the Sunshine Coast to the Coquihalla Highway;
includes RCMP offices in Burnaby, Coquitlam, Langley, Mission, North Vancouver, Richmond, Ridge Meadows, Sea-to-Sky, Sunshine Coast, Surrey, University (UBC), Upper Fraser Valley and White Rock; andincludes areas policed by Abbotsford, and New Westminster police departments.

IHIT is a truly integrated unit in that three police agencies work together to conduct investigations. One of the advantages of integration, especially with our support units, is that experts in certain fields of investigation can be tasked to specific problems. Being dedicated to a specific investigation can only better develop our expertise. This, in turn, leads to a greater likelihood of success and conviction. The integration also gives the partner agencies the ability to quickly deploy to any homicide with a full team of specialized investigators.

IHIT currently has a total of 109 employees of which 84 are investigators or detectives. They work out of two locations, an office in the City of Surrey and one in the City of Chilliwack.”
Stargate SG-1 (often abbreviated as SG-1) is a Canadian-American adventure and military science fiction television series [which allegedly provided cover for the NORAD Cheyenne Mountain SNAP hack of 9/11] and part of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer's Stargate franchise. The show, created by Brad Wright and Jonathan Glassner, is based on the 1994 feature film Stargate by Dean Devlin and Roland Emmerich. The television series was filmed in and around the city of VancouverCanada. The series premiered on Showtime on July 27, 1997;  [In 2000, Showtime launched "Showtime Interactive 24.7", a service that provided DVD-style interaction of its entertainment offerings. The following year in 2001, Showtime became one of the first cable networks to launch a high definition simulcast feed (with Star Trek: Insurrection becoming the first film on the network to be broadcast in HD)] the final episode first aired on Sky1 on March 13, 2007. With 214 episodes over 10 seasons, Stargate SG-1 had surpassed The X-Files as the longest-running North American science fiction television series, a record later broken by Smallville. The story of Stargate SG-1 begins about a year after the events of the feature film, when the United States government learns that an ancient alien device called the Stargate [euphemism for SNAP terminal] can access a network of such devices on a multitude of planets. SG-1 is an elite Air Force special forces squad, one of more than two dozen teams from Earth who explore the galaxy and defend against alien threats such as the Goa'uldReplicators, and theOri. The series draws upon Egyptian mythologyNorse mythology, and Arthurian legend. The series was a ratings success for its first-run broadcasters and in syndication, and was particularly popular in Europe and Australia. Stargate SG-1 was honored with numerous awards and award nominations in its ten-season run. It also spawned the animated television series Stargate Infinity, the live-action spin-off TV series Stargate Atlantis and Stargate Universe, and the direct-to-DVD films Stargate: The Ark of Truth andStargate: Continuum. Merchandise for Stargate SG-1 includes games and toys, print media, and an original audio series.”

GPS Tracker Cisco | GPS Tracking Device Cisco “Are you thinking about purchasing a GPS tracker for personal or business reasons?” You may not realize it but you can’t just “buy” a GPS tracker without “buying into” one company’s GPS Tracking System. And All GPS Tracking Systems are not alike! While many GPS trackers may look the same and some may even cost less, they don’t always work the same way. The monthly monitoring service that you pay for and which your trackers are specifically programmed to work with may not provide you multiple methods for determining and reporting tracking location data. Any GPS TRACKER  will attempt to obtain a GPS reading from at least three orbiting GPS satellites. If successful, the tracker will transmit that information to a computer server, which will display it on an online web-based portal with mapping software.
However, should the tracking device be located in a building, parking structure or perhaps under metal where it does not “see the sky”, it may be unable to determine its current location.
At Cisco GPS TRACKING TRACKER, we don’t stop with just GPS. Our GPS Tracking System provides a total of three methods for determining and reporting tracking location data.
Our GPS Tracking System provides location data using both GPS along with cellular technology, which we have programmed to provide for cell tower triangulation or Advanced Forward Link Triangulation (AFLT). While it is usually necessary to connect with three cell towers for the most accurate cellular location data, should this not be possible, location data at that moment will be provided from the nearest cell, which we have programmed as our third method of reporting location data.
With Cisco GPS TRACKING TRACKER, you know that you’re getting the most accurate tracking location data available because we provide three methods for determining “the location of whatever you're tracking!”

The Micro Tracker is a portable GPS tracking device that is able to fit inside the palm of your hand. The device can be placed anywhere inside a vehicle, person, or asset. The Micro Tracker's battery lasts two and a half weeks and is rechargeable. The Micro Tracker provides updates every minute. The device is water resistant and features a motion sensor as well.

The OBD II GPS tracker is a real time vehicle GPS tracking device. The OBD II tracker installs within seconds and runs off the car itself. The OBD II tracker is inconspicuous and even has additional accessories to conceal it.

The OBD II port is located directly underneath the steering column of the vehicle. All vehicles manufactured after 1996 are required to have an OBD II port inside the vehicle.

The Kill Switch GPS Tracker is a real time GPS Tracking Device that installs behind the dashboard. The GPS Tracker is hard wired into the vehicle. The Kill Switch GPS is completely hidden and a viable alternative to the other types of GPS trackers GPS Tracking Tracker offers.

The Cisco GPS Tracking software requires no installation and can be accessed from any PC, MAC, smartphone, tablet, or iPAD.

Just select the type of device you are using in order to log in to our software.”
“JOHN FURLONG
CEO, VANOC
VANOC CEO John Furlong and his team are working to create a truly spectacular Olympic experience for athletes and spectators alike. “The Vancouver 2010 Winter Games will leave an indelible mark on Canada, British Columbia and the host communities of the Games,” says Furlong. His mission is to convene sustainable Games and produce positive legacies that reflect VANOC’s green-sensitive culture and its partnerships with organizations and municipalities that share the same goal. From the beginning, Furlong saw Vancouver’s Athletes’ Village as one of the jewels of the Games bid. Now as it reaches completion, the Vancouver Athletes’ Village is set to realize that vision. Says Furlong, “this village will be a complete community where athletes in 2010 will enjoy unprecedented comforts in an extraordinary location set against a magical backdrop.” Furlong sees the Games as an opportunity to express the best of Canadian values and ingenuity on the world stage. The thoughtful and detailed work that has gone into making the Vancouver Athletes’ Village an icon of sustainability is an example of that ingenuity. “It is truly an achievement worthy of the word Olympic,” says Furlong, “and one that I hope will live on as a model for future development.”
About Public Key Infrastructure (PKI)
The internet has become an integral part of how the world does business. However, in order to take advantage of this technology, organizations, particularly in law enforcement, need to ensure that their electronic communications are stored and transferred securely and accessible only to authorized users. The Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) is the solution that was adopted by the Government of Canada to meet these security needs.

Within the law enforcement community, four organizations, Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC), RCMP, OPP and Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) have deployed a certificate authority. These four certificate authority provide digital certificates to the entire policing community, as illustrated below.

It is anticipated a Quebec certificate authority will be deployed. At this time police agencies in Quebec can contact the RCMP Certificate Services Program and their requests for digital certificates will be evaluated on a case by case basis.

While these four certificate authorities were successful in providing PKI support to their own organizations, there were issues of overlapping responsibilities and redundancy in the services offered to the Canadian police community at large. To overcome these problems, a partnership called the Canadian Policing Trust Model was created among the certificate authorities. The Canadian Policing Trust Model’s responsibility is to resolve issues which delay PKI deployment to police agencies, share emerging technological information, and reduce the costs associated to PKI.

The RCMP Certificate Services Program does not offer PKI service to non police federal law enforcement agencies. These agencies are served by either the PWGSC CA or CRA CA.”
“Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) offers a scalable method to secure networks, reduce management overhead, and simplify the deployment of network infrastructures by enabling Cisco IOS Security features, including Cisco IOS IPsec, Secure Shell (SSH), Secure Socket Layer (SSL) , and Cisco IOS Firewall . Cisco IOS Software can also use PKI for authorization via access lists and authentication resources. Additional features build upon the value-added proposition of Cisco IOS Software to simplify the provisioning and management of Cisco IOS Security technologies. PKI manages encryption keys and identity information for the human and mechanical components of a network, which participate in secured communications. Any network, from small business networks to the core systems of the world's largest service provider networks, can benefit the enhanced security in Cisco IOS Software.”
“A HAIPE (High Assurance Internet Protocol Encryptor) is a Type 1 encryption device that complies with the National Security Agency's HAIPE IS (formerly the HAIPIS, the High Assurance Internet Protocol Interoperability Specification). The cryptography used is Suite A and Suite B, also specified by the NSA as part of the Cryptographic Modernization Program. HAIPE IS is based on IPsec with additional restrictions and enhancements. One of these enhancements includes the ability to encrypt multicast data using a "preplaced key" (see definition in List of cryptographic key types).  …. A couple of new HAIPE devices will combine the functionality of a router and encryptor when HAIPE IS version 3.0 is approved. General Dynamics has completed its TACLANE version (KG-175R), which house both a red and a black Cisco router, and both ViaSat and L-3 Communications are coming out with a line of network encryptors at version 3.0 and above. Cisco has dropped its plans for producing its own HAIPE device. There is a UK HAIPE variant that implements UKEO algorithms in place of US Suite A. Cassidian has entered the HAIPE market in the UK with its Ectocryp range [3]. Ectocryp Blue is HAIPE version 3.0 compliant and provides a number of the HAIPE extensions as well as support for network quality of service (QoS). Harris has also entered the UK HAIPE market with the BID/2370 End Cryptographic Unit (ECU). In addition to site encryptors HAIPE is also being inserted into client devices that provide both wired and wireless capabilities. Examples of these include L-3 Communication's KOV-26 Talon and Guardian SME-PED, and Harris Corporation's [11] KIV-54 and PRC-117G [12] radio .”
“A TACLANE (short for "Tactical FASTLANE" or Tactical Local Area Network Encryption) is a network encryption device developed by the National Security Agency (NSA) to provide network communications security on Internet Protocol (IP) and Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) networks for the individual user or for enclaves of users at the same security level. A TACLANE is a low-cost, Type 1, key-agile, in-line network encryptor for deployment in Department of Defense (DOD) tactical and strategic networks. TACLANEs allow users to communicate securely overlegacy networks such as the Mobile Subscriber Equipment (MSE) packet network, Non-Secure Internet Protocol Router Network (NIPRNet), Secret Internet Protocol Router Network (SIPRNet), and emerging ATM networks. TACLANEs provide encryption for IP datagram traffic. ATM traffic and IP datagrams are encapsulated in ATM cells to support a variety of IP, ATM, and mixed network configurations. TACLANEs can be used to overlay Secure Virtual Networks on top of existing public and/or private network infrastructures. The TACLANE is manufactured by General Dynamics C4 Systems.”
