I was an employee of the ministry of agriculture in 1978 when the war broke out in Afghanistan and forced me to take refuge in the neighboring Pakistan . I was in politics for about five years and then joined humanitarian organizations working for Afghan Refugees in that country.
I did work for quite sometime with different NGOs to help Afghan Refugees. Later on, I joined Canada Fund for Afghanistan , a CIDA funded program, and worked for it for over nine years in both Pakistan and Afghanistan during the war and conflicts in my country, Afghanistan . Agriculture and rural development, reconstruction of infrastructure, health and education, human resource development, capacity building, community empowerment and economic development were set as the priority areas in which I worked with diligence and dedication.
I served as the Executive Director of a German NGO, German Afghanistan Foundation, while living as a refugee in Pakistan , during the war. Dari (Persian) is my mother tongue and I am fluent in Pashtu, Urdu and English.”
